Becoming a Leader – Going from Project Management to Project Leadership
Felix Hernandez, PMP, CISM

Delivering projects that meet customer needs requires creativity, team building, risk-taking and vision. In other words, it requires that you become a project leader rather than just a project manager. This session will cover the differences and commonalities between project management and leadership. The goal is to transform successful project managers into effective leaders.

Hidden Hindrances to Effective Team Performance
Monique Russell, MSC, CPC
Emotional Intelligence is no longer a luxury – it is a requirement. Every day a project leader’s emotional intelligence is put to the test. Teams that produce consistently and effectively are led by those who are able to manage the sleeping giants and grey matter that fall outside of the project checklist but are critical to team success. Be prepared to identify, embrace and lead change as various projects highlight the different attributes of you and your team’s personalities.

Dancing Inside the Waterfall – Borrowing Agile Concepts to Benefit Your Waterfall Environment
Ryland Leyton CBAP, PMP, CSM
You know that agile values, principles, and practices can be helpful to your team, but you’re in a waterfall environment.  In this session we’ll talk about how agile and waterfall processes aren’t at odds, just ways of approaching problems from different perspectives.  We’ll review several key agile concepts and practices that you can apply to benefit any waterfall project – even without mentioning agile while doing it!

The Strategic Mindset – For Your Organization, Your Career and Your Life
David Barrett
Strategic planning is now a part of the PMI’s Talent Triangle – now identified as a critical component to our current and future roles.   However, reading and hearing is one thing but how many of us are in a position to practice strategic planning and execution?  ALL OF US.   This session will show us how strategic planning is a key to our success at work but, as well, to our careers and our lives.   We will learn how to create a solid plan for any of the three legs and we will leave with the start to our own Professional Strategic Plans.
